What this touch dimmer switch does
The dimmer operates on the 433 MHz short range radio band and pairs directly with a handheld or wall-mounted RF remote, so one point of light can be controlled from two places without running extra wiring. Radio equipment in this band is governed by ETSI EN 300 220, the harmonised standard for short range devices between 25 MHz and 1000 MHz. The practical benefit of 433 MHz is range: it passes through concrete and interior walls far better than 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Does this touch dimmer switch need a neutral wire?
Yes. This model requires a neutral line at the back box and must be installed according to the supplied wiring diagram. This is the single most common reason a dimmer cannot be fitted, so it is worth checking before you order. Many older buildings, in Lebanon and elsewhere, were wired with live and switched live only, with no neutral run to the switch position. Open the existing switch plate and look for a third conductor, usually blue, that is not connected to the switch itself. If there is no neutral, the circuit needs to be re-pulled or a different control method used, and our installation team can confirm which applies during a site visit.
Lighting compatibility
The dimmer supports incandescent, halogen and dimmable LED lamps. Not every LED lamp dims cleanly on a phase cut dimmer, which is a lamp limitation rather than a dimmer fault, and the usual symptoms are flicker at low brightness or a floor below which the lamp cuts out entirely. NEMA SSL 7A is the standard that defines basic compatibility between phase cut dimmers and solid state lighting, so lamps that declare compliance with it are the safe choice. Confirm that any LED lamp is marked dimmable, and keep the total connected load inside the range printed on the dimmer.
Behaviour during a power cut
The unit is not battery backed. When mains returns, or when the supply transfers between grid and generator, the dimmer powers back up in its off state rather than snapping to full brightness, which avoids a room lighting itself at 3am after a transfer. Installation
Isolate the circuit at the breaker before opening the switch plate. Terminate live, load and neutral according to the diagram supplied in the box, seat the module in the back box and fit the glass panel. Pairing the RF remote takes a single press and hold on the panel. Frequently asked questions
Can I control this touch dimmer switch from my phone?
Not on its own. This model is RF433 only, which is what makes it hub-free and resilient. If app control is a requirement, we supply Wi-Fi and Tuya-based dimmers as well.
How many remotes can I pair to one dimmer?
Multiple remotes can be paired to a single dimmer, and a single remote can control several dimmers, which is how two-way and three-way control is built without pulling new cable.
My LED lamps flicker at low brightness. Is the dimmer faulty?
Almost always no. Non-dimmable or low quality LED drivers are the usual cause. Switch to a lamp marked dimmable and, ideally, NEMA SSL 7A compliant.
Will it work on 110V?
Yes, the operating range covers 110 to 250V AC, so the same unit works on both common supply standards.
