Description

This rf433 dimmer is the blue-finish version of our wall dimmer, giving smooth brightness control from the glass panel or from a paired 433 MHz remote. It is the same electrical platform as the white model, so if the specification suits you and the finish does not, the two are interchangeable.

How the rf433 dimmer works

Control runs on the 433 MHz short range band covered by ETSI EN 300 220. There is no hub, no app and no cloud account, and the radio passes through concrete far better than 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so a remote works from the next room. Dimming is phase cut, which is why lamp choice matters, and why the compatibility section below is worth reading before you order.

Key features

  • Smooth, flicker-free brightness adjustment
  • RF433 wireless control plus touch panel
  • AC 110 to 250V, 50/60 Hz
  • 200W per channel resistive, 40W inductive or capacitive
  • Standby consumption under 50 mW
  • Blue finish, wall-mounted, indoor use

Lamp compatibility

The dimmer suits incandescent, halogen and dimmable LED lamps. Not every LED dims cleanly on a phase cut dimmer, and the symptoms are flicker at low output or a floor below which the lamp drops out. That is a lamp limitation rather than a fault in the dimmer. NEMA SSL 7A defines basic compatibility between phase cut dimmers and solid state lighting, so lamps declaring compliance are the safe choice. Watch the load ceiling too: 200W resistive is generous for LED but tight for a large halogen circuit.

Wiring requirements

A neutral wire is mandatory. Follow the diagram printed on the device, and isolate the circuit at the breaker first. If the back box has only live and switched live, which is common in older buildings, the circuit needs re-pulling. Our installation team can check before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference from the white dimmer?
Finish only. The electrical specification is identical, so choose on appearance. See the white touch dimmer switch.

My LEDs flicker at low brightness.
Almost always the lamp, not the dimmer. Use lamps marked dimmable, ideally NEMA SSL 7A compliant.

Can I dim from two places?
Yes, pair additional RF remotes. No extra cabling needed.

Load ceiling and lamp count

The rf433 dimmer is rated 200W resistive and 40W inductive or capacitive per channel, and the second figure is the one that catches people out. A circuit of LED downlights with driver electronics behaves as a capacitive load, so a room with a dozen fittings can reach the ceiling faster than the wattage on the lamps suggests. Count the fittings and check the total before ordering. Where a circuit is too large for one dimmer, splitting it across two is usually cheaper than rewiring.

Installation notes

Isolate at the breaker, follow the wiring diagram printed on the device, and seat the module fully before fitting the glass. Indoor use only, up to 80 percent humidity, so bathrooms and exterior walls are out. Pairing a remote to the rf433 dimmer is a press and hold on the panel, and additional remotes can be added later without disturbing the installation. We recommend installation by a qualified electrician, and our team can commission and label a whole lighting layout in one visit.
